REGISTRATION FORM

Transforming a beautiful piece of wool into a coat or jacket is one of my favorite things. Successful tailoring requires some special sewing and pressing techniques. If you want to sew a lined, tailored coat or jacket this is the workshop for you. I will show you all the details that make a magnificent coat or jacket.

We will start with the fitting and preparation of patterns including off-graining, button/overlap width, and drafting or adjusting lining pattern pieces. Learn about turn-of-the-cloth and working with heavier coating fabrics.

A variety of coat and jacket samples will be available to show interfacing options, notched collars, welt pockets, bound buttonholes, sleeves, shoulder shaping, interfaced hems, lining options and more.

Please consult with me ahead of class on your jacket or coat pattern and fabric choice. I'll make sure the techniques you will need to know will be included in class so you can sew a fabulous coat or jacket. You may also want to get a head start by scheduling a private pattern fitting session before the workshop begins. Contact me to schedule your appointment.

You may bring your own sewing machine or arrange with Marla to borrow one.

Workshops begin each morning at 9AM and finish at 5PM with a one hour lunch break. Dine at one of many favorite local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

The classroom is available to you in the evening and will be locked securely overnight.

This workshop will be limited to 8 students to ensure individual attention. A $100 non-refundable deposit will reserve a space for you.

Workshop will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn – Portland/Lake Oswego, located at 14850 Kruse Oaks Drive, Lake Oswego, OR 97035. Accommodations are available at the Hilton Garden Inn. You will be sent a booking link for the Hilton Garden Inn or other information about room discounts after you register.

To reserve your space, please send the registration form and a check for either the $100 non-refundable deposit or the total fee. The balance is due August 8, 2024. Please make checks payable to Marla Kazell. Return form to:

If you prefer to pay with a credit card, email the registrant information to marla@marlakazell.com. You will be sent an invoice.

CANCELLATIONS

For cancellations made 30 days prior to the workshop or earlier, any fees received (beyond the $100 non-refundable deposit) will be refunded or transferred to another workshop. There are no refunds or transfers for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to the workshop. Workshops may be canceled if minimum enrollment is not obtained 30 days prior to workshop. All deposits and fees will then be refunded.
