REGISTRATION FORM

Explore fabric collage techniques inspired by designer Koos van den Akker as you sew a one-of-a-kind garment and combine a variety of fabrics and fibers into a work of art. Choose a Koos pattern from the Vogue pattern book, or start with a simple style jacket, coat, top or dress as your base. Learn several methods for designing your collage pieces and see how fabric is sliced, stitched, twisted and pieced together to create wonderful surface texture and design.
Marla will show you collage techniques including fabric slicing, couching, applique, origami texture and using bias tape for both design and finishing edges. Discover how to effectively combine fibers, colors, textures, prints, plaids and stripes all part of the collage magic. Once your design is created, you will learn how to finish your masterpiece and add yet more interest with a variety of seams, seam finishes and edge finishes.

For a preview and inspiration, visit our Fabric Collage album in the Photo Gallery where you will find collage ideas, garments and fabric combinations. Upon registration, you will consult with Marla to choose your perfect pattern and get help with choosing fabrics. Take advantage of Portland's wonderful fabric stores with a day of shopping to round out your fabric selections (see Optional Shopping Day below).

You may bring your own sewing machine or arrange with Marla to borrow one.

Workshops begin each morning at 9AM and finish at 5PM. The classroom is available to you in the evening and will be locked securely overnight.

Lunch is included each day. There are many restaurants within walking distance for dinner on your own.
This workshop will be limited to 6 students to ensure individual attention. A $100 non-refundable deposit will reserve a space for you.

The workshop will be held at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Portland South/Lake Oswego, located at 6100 SW Meadows Road, Lake Oswego, OR 97035.
